MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

  • Must be 18 years of age to apply for any entry-level position.

  • Must have a high school diploma or state-issued GED.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for Deputy Sheriff I - Corrections and any certified officer positions.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Must not have been convicted of a DUI within the last seven years.

  • No illegal drug use, including marijuana, in the past TWO years.

  • No illegal drug use of any hard drugs, including but to cocaine, LSD, crank/crack, ecstasy, heroin, or mushrooms in the past seven years.

  • No family violence convictions.

  • No felony convictions.

  • No "guilty" pleas under the First Offender Act.

  • If you have prior military service, you must have an Honorable Discharge and completed your required active service.

IF YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR DEPUTY SHERIFF II OR THE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER POSITIONS, YOU MUST HAVE A BASIC PEACE OFFICER CERTIFICATION SO YOU CAN CARRY A WEAPON. ADDITIONALLY, THE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER POSITION REQUIRES AT LEAST 3 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE.
